Autumn tour Gilgit-Baltistan

Autumn in Gilgit Baltistan Valleys brings with it a vibrant color palette as the hills and slopes are covered in leaves and snow; making the region more picturesque than in any other season. With a dynamic landscape, there is a reason the valleys is often referred to as ‘Heaven on earth’. From vibrant tones of orange and red to soothing shades of yellow, the season brings with it a spectrum of colors and beauty.

Autumn in Northern Areas of Pakistan is something to behold. In this time of year when the trees of poplar, apricot, mulberry, peach, apple, and plum burst forth into a riot of colours with hues of orange, rust, and red. The clear and bracing weather offers the best view of the surrounding mountains.

In Gilgit Baltistan Autumn is the most exciting season enjoyed in the Pakistan. At the end of the summers in September, the orchards start changing color like a bride Groom with the colorful dress of her wading day. These fantastic changes bring a glorious transfusion into the human body, which gives happiness and pleasure. In October it offers a picture seek view among the high mountain peaks of 8000m to 7800m. 

Above from the snow line to the water channel lies the colorful rocks which have sharp ridges, Nallahs, Maize millet, vegetables, sunflower, waterfalls, lakes, Duck shooting possibility, enjoy the landscape with the Natural beauty the God Given Gift to humans. The areas are abounding in colorful flowers along with gushing streams, roaring waterfalls, particularly in the region of Gilgit Baltistan.

Itinerary

Departure from Home country.

Morning, arrival at Lahore International airport, our NPA representative will greet and transfer to hotel. At after noon, we will visit the old city, Badshahi Mosque built in 17th century and Lahore Fort, 16th century Ad. Overnight in hotel.

Today we will explore the cultural city of Pakistan. We will start our visit from Wazir khan mosque, Delhi gate, Lahore Museum, and in the evening we will Witness the daily flag ceremony at the Indian border at Wagah. Have you been to the DMZ separating North and South Korea? Well, we think it hasn’t got anything on this, the tensest border on the planet! With large public supporting their army by singing their national anthems. Overnight in Hotel.

After breakfast, we drive to Islamabad en-route we will visit Khewra salt mine. Khewra salt mine is the 2nd largest salt mine in the world and oldest salt mine in the world, we will be having a guide from the staff and visit the mine. Afterwards we will continue to visit Khatas Raj temple on our way back to Islamabad. Overnight in Hotel. (Approximately 5-6hrs drive).

After breakfast, transfer to Islamabad international airport for the flight to Gilgit. It will take around 60 minutes flight over the Himalayan Mountains and you will see the 9th highest mountain Nanga Parbat with the height of 8125m. After landing in Gilgit airport our buses will wait to take us to Hunza. The drive through the scenic mountainous villages and high mountains will brings us to Rakaposhi viewpoint after a stop we will continue our drive to Hunza. On arrival we will visit Altit and Baltit fort and then check in at hotel for Overnight stay. (Approximately 1hour flight and 3 hrs drive.)

Early morning, we will drive to Duiker viewpoint to witness the magnificent sun rise view of the Rakaposhi (7788 meters) Diran peak (7200 meters) Golden peak and Ultar group of peaks and many countless peaks can be seen from here. After breakfast drive to Hoper village in Nagar valley to enjoy the apricot tree colourful leaves and short hike to the Hoper glacier. After lunch we will drive back to Karimabad. Overnight stay in hotel. (Approximately 2hrs drive round trip).

In Morning, we will visit the 800 years old watching towers and wooden carving mosques at Ganesh village and 4th century AD Rock carvings on the ancient Silk Road. After we drive to Gulmit a beautiful mountainous village in upper Hunza, en route we will stop to see the, Atta Abad Lake and Hussania Bridge, later proceed to Gulmit. Afternoon drive to Borit Lake and short hike to Gulkin glacier. Overnight stay in hotel. (Approximately 3-4 hrs Drive).

Full day excursion to Khunjrab National Park, drive through the snow covered peaks towering above the scenic villages and passing through the Passu and Batura glaciers, explore the wildlife species of Ibexes, Marco polo sheep and wild yaks. We will stop by on the Pak – China boarder and walk around the area. Afternoon we will drive back to Gulmit. Overnight stay in hotel. (Approximately 6-7hrs drive).

After breakfast, we will drive to Fairy Meadows. En-route we will stop at the junction of the world three highest mountains ranges The Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu-Kush. Almighty Indus and Gilgit River also confluence at the same junction point. After a brief view we will continue our drive to Raikot Bridge 3-4 hrs. From Raikot we will change ride on 4×4 Jeep to Tato village. It is 2 hours’ drive from KKH to Tato village, Lunch at Tato village. After lunch we will begin our walk to Fairy Meadows. It is 3 hours walk. Fairy Meadows is lush green with thick forest and offering the best view of Nanga Parbat. Nanga Parbat is also known to be the Killer Mountain. Fairy Meadows was named by the Germans ‘means Fairy Tale’. On arrival at Fairy Meadows transfer to Tibetan style wooden hut in evening leisure around Fairy Meadows, dinner and overnight at huts. (Approximately 5-6 hrs drive and 3 hrs walk).

Optional day to hike up the Nanga Parbat Base camp and visit the memorial of the climbers in Base camp which is an easy walk crossing the summer houses of local people 6-7 hrs walk round trip. Or trek till Bayal camp (3500m) viewpoint of Nanga Parbat which is around 4-5 hrs walk. The trail continues on a flat landscape for about 2 hours through the forest, after passing several streams you will be reaching at Bayal camp from where you can relax at the meadows of Bayal camp or walk more for 30 minutes to see the viewpoint of Nanga Parbat. We will have our lunch on our way back from Nanga Parbat Base camp in Bayal and back to Fairy Meadows we will have dinner and Overnight stay in wooden huts. (Approximately round trip 6-7 hrs walks).

After breakfast, we will trek back to Tato village 2-3 hrs and transfer on 4×4 jeeps to KKH 2hrs, where our buses will wait for us. We will use the buses to continue our journey to Gilgit. After 2hrs of drive, we will be in Gilgit on arrival we will check in the hotel. At afternoon, we will visit the Kargah Buddha, which is an archaeological site located about 6 miles outside of Gilgit city. It is a carved image of a large standing Buddha on the cliff facing towards Karghah Nala. The carving, which is in the same style is also found in Baltistan, probably dates back to the 7th century. We will get back for Overnight in Hotel. (Approximately 2-3 hrs walk and 4hrs drive).

After breakfast, we will drive to Gilgit airport and fly to Islamabad, after landing in Islamabad we will drive to Taxila. Taxila is an important archaeological site of the ancient Indian subcontinent, located in city of Punjab, Pakistan. It lies about 32 km north-west of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, just off the famous Grand Trunk Road. At afternoon we will drive back to Islamabad for Overnight in Hotel. (Approximately 1hrs flight and 2 hrs drive).

After breakfast, we will be ready for sightseeing of Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. We will drive around Islamabad, which is a modern city located in the Pothohar Plateau in the northeastern part of the country, within the Islamabad Capital Territory. The region has historically been a part of the crossroads of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Margalla pass acting as the gateway between the two regions. The city was built during the 1960s to replace Karachi as Pakistan’s capital. Islamabad is a well-organized international city divided into several different sectors and zones. It is regarded as the most developed city in Pakistan and is ranked as a Gamma – world city. The city is home to Faisal Mosque, the fourth largest mosque in the world we will visit Faisal mosque. After that we will be visiting the Lok Versa Museum where you can experience all four province’s culture, way of life and the strong cultural interaction with neighboring countries of Pakistan, In the evening a drive to visit Rawalpindi which is a lively, bustling city with the crowded streets and colorful bazaars, thorough it lacks the grand monuments; nonetheless, the bazaar should appeal to anyone with the desire to see the real Pakistan. We will celebrate the last evening by farewell dinner from Nanga Parbat Adventure at Monal restaurant on the top of Margalla hills Overnight hotel.

In the morning transfer to Airport for international flight. (Approximately 35 minutes’ drive).
