Nanga parbat Rupal Face Trek

Nanga Parbat Rupal Face Trek is a challenging yet rewarding trek that offers stunning views of the second-highest mountain in Pakistan.

Nanga Parbat is not a single peak but consists of 20km long series of peaks and ridges culminating in an icecrest of (8125m). Its South Face known as Rupal Face is (5000m) high, while the North or Raikot Face plungingover (7000m) from the summit to the Indus forms one of the world’s deepest gorge. This expedition takes usto the Southside, which is known as Rupal Face. 

The trek follows the south side of Nanga Parbat, through the lush Rupal Valley, to Herligkoffer Base Camp. The base camp is situated at an elevation of 4,600 meters, providing breathtaking views of the massive Rupal Face, which rises over 5,000 meters from the valley floor.

Itinerary

Arrival at Islamabad Transfer to hotel, afternoon visit of the twin towns of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Evening presentation of the program.

Drive to Chilas by the Karakorum Highway (KKH). After Islamabad situated on the Potwar plateau (500m) we will reach fresh hills and forested ridges whose cool climate attracts many people in summer. Abbottabad (1220m) was founded as a British garrison town in the 1850s. It’s one of the best Hill Station of the country.
Chilas on the edge of Indus River is famous for the petroglyphs. The oldest Inscriptions dating of around first AD. Meals and overnight at hotel.
Note: if you want to avoid the drive we can fly to Gilgit and drive to Tarishing

Option 

We can also drive from Islamabad to Chilas Via Babusar Road to Chilas. Corssing by the area of KPK into Gilgit-Baltistan.

After breakfast drive to Tarishing along the Astore River. Gurikot and Astore are the principal villages on the way. Tarishing at the end of the jeep road is a colored village surrounded by snowed summits and departure of our trek Meals and overnight at camp.

6 Hrs

After breakfast we will start our trekking with potters towards Herrligkoffer BC of Nanga Parbat. On our way we will cross Lower Rupal and upper Rupal village. You will cross Tarshing glacier, Bashin glacier and discover the Rupal villages in middle of green meadows. The campsite is a beautiful place in front of the Rupal face of Nanga Parbat. For lunch we will be at Herrligkoffer BC. After lunch you will walk around with guide the rest team will set up the camp site. Overnight at Camping in Tent.

After breakfast we will close our camp side and you can leave with guide towards Latoboh, the rest team along with potters will join you at lunch time. Overnight at camp.

The path follows the northern lateral moraine of the Toshain glacier and Shaigiri glaciers, with views to Leila and Rupal peaks on one side and Nanga Parbat on the other. From the camp you can admire the 20 long km Toshain glacier that fill the whole head of the valley. Meals and overnight at camp. Most of glaciers in north Pakistan are recovered by thick cover of stones and gravel which gives them their black color in most of their course. Meals and overnight at camp.

In the morning we will trek back to Tarishing, on our way back we will meet local people and share their stores about mountain people and the way of life. Overnight at Tarishing hotel.

After breakfast we will drive to Chilas. It will take around 6 hrs to Reach Chilas.

After breakfast we will fallow the Indus River and KKH to reach Islamabad. This day ll be longer to drive, we will have our lunch break at Besham.
On arrive transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Rawalpindi is the 4th largest city of Pakistan, known for its ancient Buddhist heritage. The city was destroyed during the invasion of Mahmud of Ghazni before being taken over by Gakhars in 1493. The bazaars of the old city offer exciting bargains. You can leisurely browse in the quaint old shops in sadder bazaar, Moti bazaar, Raja bazaar and Kashmiri bazaar while Sarafa bazaar is famous for beaten gold and silver jewelry, brass and copper-ware. Numerous shopping bazaars, parks and a cosmopolitan population attract shoppers from all over Pakistan and abroad. At the afternoon we will drive back to Islamabad visit Lok Virsa, Pakistan Monument Museum Faisal Mosque and Daman-e-Koh. In the evening we will have farewell dinner together with Nanga Parbat Adventure team. Overnight in  hotel.

In the morning transfer to Airport for international flight.
