THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT CHAKWAL CANYONS

Visitors often ask this because of the viral social media comparisons. They want to know if the scale and red-rock aesthetics live up to the “Mini Arizona” nickname.

Serious photographers ask about the “Golden Hour.” Because the canyons are deep, they want to know when the light hits the sedimentary layers perfectly (usually early morning or just before sunset) to capture the vivid oranges and reds.

This is a unique and frequent question. Much of the canyon area near Thoa Bahadur is privately owned. Tourists often ask if they need prior permission or a local contact to enter without trespassing issues.

Given the rocky, desert-like terrain, hikers frequently inquire about local wildlife safety and the necessity of wearing high-ankle trekking boots for the rugged, sandy paths.

Similar to Multan, the canyons are in a semi-arid zone. Foreigners ask if the “bowl” of the canyon becomes a heat trap in the summer and usually seek confirmation that November to March is the only comfortable window for hiking.
